10 DAYS OF NURTURE IN NOOSA - DAY 2

Breakfast. One of my favourite meals of the day.  I love to fill my body with nourishing foods.  This morning I have an old favourite.  Organic eggs cooked in a sprinkling of ginger powder and turmeric simmered in a dollop of coconut oil.  Little did I know to maximise the health benefits of turmeric you are best to heat it in oil - it makes it more bio-available to your cells.

The base starts with 2 slices of kibbled sourdough from Jaspers Bakery on Weyba.  Topped with mashed avocado and then the eggs.  I sometimes add a touch of Himalayan rock salt to taste. Delicious!

After a few hours I take myself off for a quiet stroll through the Noosa National Park again.  This time I head off from Parkedge Rd, Sunshine Beach.  A range of different vegetation stimulates my senses, from rain forest through to areas of coastal bush with iconic Pandanus, Banksia and the unique 'Black Boy' or Xanthorrhoea.  Destination - Alexandria Bay or 'A' Bay as the locals call it.  No, I am not heading to the southern "unofficial clothing optional" part of  'A' Bay (well not today anyway!). 

'A' Bay is uncrowded, flat and set between 2  beautiful rocky headlands with plenty of room for me to do "Abs by the Beach".  A series of core strengthening exercises I love to do each week.  I am not chasing the rock hard 6 pack look.  Having a strong core is the best way to stop back pain and improve athletic performance.

One of the things I love about these set of movements is - No Crunches!!! I find these tighten up my psoas muscles (the muscle that goes from  your lower back, through the hip too the thigh bone) and causes more back pain.  I also love that you need no equipment to do these, so they can be done anywhere - including on the beach!

Supports upper body, spine, pelvis and joints

Increases sports performance - a balance between upper and lower body

Promotes balance and stability

Exercising your core leads to lean muscle which burns calories

With the muscle strenthgening comes bone strengthening (by increasing bone density)

Reduces injury caused by undue stress on certain body parts
